Now, I understand I'm physically stronger then my 10 month old daughter. But, when its time to feed her a snack or meal -- you better bring a helmet and shield. She scares the "bejesus" out of me.
To explain it in layman terms... I feel like Rick Moranis (Seymour) in the Little Shop of Horrors…and…my daughter is Audrey (The Plant). If I give her the slightest thought -- that the meal is over…or…she disapproves with the menu; she makes me aware with fierce grunting and screaming. Seriously, I panic…become terrified and immediately fear for my life.
On the flipside…I'm always baffled when I hear other parents having trouble getting their kid to eat. Excuse me? Feeding is hard? You're not scared of your child?...what a relief that would be -- I could use a break and lower my blood pressure once in while.
My wife and I have followed Katie Ferraro, known as @Babyledweanteam for the latest tips & tricks feeding babies. Popularized in the U.K., Baby - Led Weaning provides a natural and easy way of serving solids to your kids. It supports the development of hand-eye coordination, chewing skills, dexterity and healthy eating habits.
I definitely wouldn't try everything she recommends myself -- but, I sure do enjoy the 1 or 2 times she recommended something my daughter didn’t appreciate. Felt like a small victory over the B.E.A.S.T…She ever acts out -- I'll be sure to serve her that squash, spinach, sweet potato puree she threw all over the kitchen.
